This past month, I began the very difficult process of building a contact list of skilled professionals in my field of interest, gradually connecting with a group of accomplished digital marketing experts. Like many of my ISM peers, I’ve struggled to receive responses, and I’ve come to think of this period as the “constant contacting contest” we’re all experiencing. My strategy has been to persistently follow up, ensuring I don’t get lost in their crowded inboxes and stay active in this “contest for contacts.” Persistence with professionals is a new approach for me. In the past, I believed that if someone didn’t respond, it was best to move on. I now understand that persistence is essential in the professional world and often needed to break through the barrier of busy schedules and numerous emails. By the end of this week, my efforts have been rewarded. I was able to secure two interview opportunities with professionals in the marketing industry. I hope to continue developing these connections throughout high school, maintaining positive relationships and building on the insights they share. I’m excited to grow my professional network, learning from these experts as I prepare to pursue my future goals in finance.
